by Darlene SchultzApril flowers or April showers, regardless of how it comes, we love the month of April. The hint of spring is in full force and the air has begun to smell of the fresh, new awakenings all around us. If you have taken a drive past the barren fields lately, allow your mind to start to imagine the lush green plants that will soon sprout and will have fully taken over in the weeks to come. The flowers have popped up everywhere along fence lanes and rows to help join in the announcement of spring. The sleepy animals have begun to make their ascent from hibernation to awaken once again and welcome spring. Not to be left out, are the array of birds that have returned to chirp all at once, it seems. Regardless of the showers, April has always presented a door into the full embrace of springtime with all its’ beauty and warmth. In days gone by, “spring cleaning” had always conjured up a vision of a sparkling home where the dust of winter had been swept away. If you look at it from a writer’s standpoint, “spring cleaning” could also include a novel that has been left unfinished for months or years. It might be time to sharpen your pencils and dust off the manuscript once again. Who knows, it could become that new bestseller we have all been waiting to read. So, however you choose to make this April special, just remember to thank God. Thank Him for another day, another month and for His perpetual opportunities for a new beginning at any time of the year, especially in April. A retired school counselor and previous classroom teacher, Darlene achieved her goal of pursuing her passion for writing upon retirement. She is a member of the Kirkersville Writer's Club, has been published in the Potato Soup Journal, as well as many blogs in this website. In addition, her biggest "spring cleaning" resulted in the publication of her popular 3-Part Amish Book Series: For the Love of Emmaline.

Good advice, Darlene. We need to look to the beauty of spring and thank God for it and all we are given.

Wonderful essay, Darlene. I could see the flowers popping up and hear the spring peepers chirping as I read.

Very nice essay on spring. I also enjoyed the flowers. But, you forgot to mention the start up of all the lawn mowers! At least in our neighborhood. LOL! Comments are closed.
